Elizabeth, Jack and the rest of their friends find new challenges in Hope Valley. While Elizabeth is guiding a young girl in her class to excel in the upcoming science fair, Jack finds himself reuniting a reluctant couple. Elizabeth's friend Rosemary must decide if she will stay in Hope Valley or leave to pursue her dream of stardom, while Abigail must face the estranged aunt of the children she has taken in.

Life is always busy and full of challenges in Hope Valley. Abigail must deal with the railroad potentially coming to Hope Valley and the benefits and costs that would come with it. Elizabeth and Jack have volunteered to coach the kids in baseball, and Elizabeth works hard to inspire a young boy who is sure he cannot participate due to a leg injury. With her encouragement, the boy is able to find the courage to take part in the game.

The residents of Hope Valley are ready to overcome any obstacles that come their way. When school supplies run low, Elizabeth works with her students to create a carnival to raise funds. However, there are more challenges in store for Elizabeth when she is betrayed and her beloved job as a teacher is in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Jack, Frank and Bill must face off against escaped criminals. There are certainly no dull moments in Hope Valley.
